How to Collect Your SASSA SRD Grant at Shoprite 2026

If you do not have a bank account or prefer to collect cash, you can receive your SASSA SRD R370 grant at Shoprite, Checkers, or Usave stores across South Africa.

How Shoprite Cash Payments Work

SASSA processes a CashSend voucher for your grant. You collect the cash at a Shoprite Group store using:

• Your SA ID number
• A PIN or reference number sent to your registered phone

No bank account is needed for this method.

Steps to Collect at Shoprite

1. Wait for an SMS from SASSA confirming your grant is ready for collection
2. The SMS will include a reference number or PIN
3. Go to any Shoprite, Checkers, or Usave store
4. Find the Money Market counter or till point
5. Tell the cashier you want to collect a SASSA grant payment
6. Provide your ID number and the PIN from the SMS
7. Receive your R370 cash

When Is the Money Available?

Shoprite/cash collections are typically available from the 28th to 30th of each month — slightly later than bank account payments. Capitec and bank account holders receive payment on the 24th–27th.

What to Bring

• Your South African green ID book or smart ID card
• The PIN or reference number from the SASSA SMS
• Your registered phone (in case verification is needed)

What If You Did Not Receive an SMS?

If your status shows Approved but you did not receive an SMS with collection details:

1. Check your registered phone number is correct on SASSA’s system
2. Call SASSA on 0800 60 10 11 to request your collection PIN be re-sent
3. Visit your nearest SASSA office with your ID

Switching to a Bank Account

Cash collection at retailers is convenient but payments arrive later in the month. If you open a bank account (Capitec is most recommended for SASSA beneficiaries), you can update your banking details at srd.sassa.gov.za and receive payment from the 24th.
