Check your SASSA SRD status instantly — free tool
Check Status Now →If your circumstances have changed and you no longer qualify for the SASSA SRD R370 grant — for example, you found employment or started receiving another income — you should cancel your application.
Why Cancel Your SASSA Application?
You should cancel if you:
- Started earning income above R624 per month
- Found employment (now UIF registered)
- Started receiving another SASSA grant
- Are now registered with NSFAS
- No longer need the grant
Continuing to receive the grant when you no longer qualify is considered fraud and can result in repayment demands.
How to Cancel Online
- Go to srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/cancellation
- Enter your 13-digit SA ID number
- Enter your registered phone number
- Enter the OTP sent to your phone
- Confirm the cancellation and submit
Your application will be cancelled with immediate effect.
Changed Your Mind? How to Reinstate
If you cancelled but your circumstances have changed again and you now qualify, you can reinstate your application:
- Go to srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/reinstate
- Enter your ID and phone number
- Follow the prompts to reactivate
Reinstatement is subject to SASSA’s verification process — you will need to re-qualify based on current checks.
Cancellation vs Declined
- Cancelled means you voluntarily stopped your application
- Declined means SASSA found a reason you do not qualify
A cancelled application can be reinstated. A declined application requires a new monthly verification — you do not reinstate it, your status will change back to Approved or Pending if you still qualify.
Check Your Status After Cancellation
Use the SASSA status check tool to confirm your application shows as cancelled. If the status still shows Pending or Approved 48 hours after cancellation, call SASSA on 0800 60 10 11.
