Last weekend, I was out for a family dinner and I forgot to keep my SASSA card with me. However, I want to share that I received my SASSA black card last month, and now I am using it. If you are still using the old Gold card, then switch to the new Black card today.
The old Gold cards will end in May 2025. So when it was time to go back home after dinner, I decided to withdraw my SASSA grant funds. I go to the Postbank ATM and go inside it.
I took my hand to my pocket to bring the SASSA card out to insert it into the ATM. Unfortunately, the card was not in my pocket. I became worried as I needed to take my grant cash.
Then I found a way to use the SASSA grant payment without the SASSA card. There are two ways to do so. So let’s learn about them.
Can I Withdraw SASSA Grant Payment Without a SASSA Card?
Yes, you can withdraw your SASSA grant payment even when you don’t have access to your SASSA card. There are two methods to perform it. Method 1: Use Postbank ATM’s Fingerprint Scanner Visit a Postbank ATM Go to any Postbank ATM that has a fingerprint scanner.
These machines are available at many Post Office branches and selected locations. Select “Cardless Services” or “Biometric Access.” On the ATM screen, you will see an option for cardless or biometric withdrawal. Tap on it.
Enter Your ID Number The ATM will ask you to enter your South African ID number. Type it correctly. Place Your Finger on the Scanner Now, place your registered finger (the one linked to your SASSA account) on the fingerprint scanner.
Wait for Fingerprint Verification The ATM will scan and verify your fingerprint. Make sure your finger is clean and properly placed. Access Your Account Once your fingerprint is verified, the ATM will show your account balance and other options.
Withdraw Your Cash Choose the amount you want to withdraw and collect your cash from the ATM. Take the Receipt Don’t forget to take the receipt for your records.
- Note:This method is only available at selected Postbank ATMs.
It is safe and secure as it uses your fingerprint for identification. Method 2: Use the SASSA Money Transfer (Cash Send) Service If you don’t have your card and can't go to a Postbank ATM, you can use the SASSA Cash Send service. This method sends money to your phone, and you can collect it at participating retailers or ATMs.
Update Banking Details at the SASSA SRD Portal First, visit your SASSA SRD portal at srd.sassa.gov.za and request to change your payment method to Cash Send. You will need your ID and phone number. Receive SMS With Withdrawal Code Every month, you will get an SMS on your phone with a secure code or PIN.
Go to a Retail Partner or ATM Visit a participating ATM (like FNB, Absa, or Shoprite Money Market) that supports Cash Send. Enter the Code and ID Number Enter the code you received and your ID number to confirm your identity. Collect Your Cash Once verified, you can withdraw your SASSA grant without a card.
