If your old bank account is closed and you need to add a new bank account to get your SASSA SRD grant payments, then you can do it online easily. The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) allows you to change banking details for the SRD R370 grant anytime. Also, when you go through the SASSA status check procedure, you will see the option “Bank Details Pending”.
This is because you haven’t added the bank account information during the SRD grant application process. You can follow my guide on how to change the bank account for the SRD grant and do it online.
How to Change SASSA Bank Account for SRD R370 Payments?
Fortunately, you can change your old bank account information and add a new bank account number for your SRD grant payments. However, the procedure is only available on the SRD portal online. There is no way to visit the SASSA office and change the details in person.
Here is how you can change your banking details: Step 1: Open the SRD Portal Go to the SASSA SRD website.

You can use your phone, tablet, or laptop. Make sure you have a stable internet connection. Step 2: Go to the "South African ID Holders" Page Once the site opens, you will see a button that says "South African ID Holders." Click on this button.
It will take you to the next page to manage your grant. Step 3: Find “How Do I Change My Banking Details” Scroll down the page. Look for the section called “How Do I Change My Banking Details.” Here, you will see a box to enter your South African ID number.
Type your ID number into the box. Make sure it is correct and click the submit button. Step 4: Wait for SMS After you submit your ID number, you will get an SMS on your phone.
This SMS will have a secure link (URL). Click the link. It will take you to the page where you can change your bank details.
Step 5: Change Your Banking Details Now enter your new bank details. Fill in the following information: Bank Name (e.g., Capitec, FNB, ABSA) Account Type (Savings or Cheque) Account Number Account Holder Name (It must match your ID) IBAN (if required) SWIFT Code (for international payments, usually not needed for local banks) Make sure all the details are correct. Double-check your account number and name.
Step 6: Submit the Form Once all details are complete, submit the form. SASSA will verify your new bank information. This may take a few days.
Once verified, your future R370 payments will go to the new bank account.
